small cars & canoes

From time to time people will tell me they can't put a canoe on their car because it's too small. I beg to differ.

Please feel free to pass this on to your friends who are skeptical.

The white OC-1 on top of the yellow canoe, on the green Suzuki is 23' long...ok, so that is a little big.

But the red canoe on the Smart Car is just under 16'.

I'd have to say the hardest vehical to put a canoe on, that I've had to work on, would be an older model VW Beetle. For that we just customize a set of foam blocks to take care of that roof curvature.

  1. Reminds me of back in the day hauling around my 18'6" marathon canoe on the old Renault.
There is ALWAYS a way to get it done ;)

  2. It’s amazing how creative you can get when transporting a canoe! People often think their cars are too small, but with the right setup—even a Smart Car can handle a 16' canoe. Customizing foam blocks for tricky vehicles, like older VW Beetles, shows that a little ingenuity can go a long way.

Of course, even with careful preparation, unexpected issues like a flat tyre can happen while on the road. That’s why having access to a reliable mobile tyre repair service is so valuable. Quick professional help ensures you can get back on your journey safely, whether it’s a canoe trip or everyday driving.
